On July 1, Jared Patterson resigned the Place 2 seat on the Sachse City Council to seek the Republican nomination for the Texas House of Representatives, District 112. His resignation led the city council to call a special election for the unexpired term of Place 2 on September 21, 2013.
Two candidates have filed for the vacant Place 2 seat on the Sachse City Council – Charlie Ross and David Hock.
Charlie Ross is a Software Architect, has been a member of the Sachse Planning and Zoning Commission and currently serves as the Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Here is a post Mr Ross made on the Sachse Texas Candidates Facebook Page:
I want to introduce myself to the group. I’m Charlie Ross and I’m running for Sachse City Council Place 2. My wife and I have lived in Sachse since 2008 and have grown to love this city with small town character on the fringe of Big D. I have been active on city boards since 2009, being first appointed as an alternate member of the Zoning Board of Adjustments and then in 2010 as a member of the Planning & Zoning Commission, of which I currently serve as chairman.
I’m running for city council because I believe Sachse, which is already a great place to live, can have an even brighter future ahead if its next stage of growth is well-managed. The policies and decisions the city council makes play a significant role in the direction this growth takes and the impacts such changes have on the citizens. As a resident of Sachse who has a vested interest in the future of my city, I see service on the city council as a way of more directly influencing this future toward good outcomes and contributing to the community in which I live.
Here is a summary of the goals for which I would work as a member of the city council:
(1) Ensure safety and basic quality-of-life services for residents
(2) Increase the tax base by attracting and keeping quality businesses
(3) Develop long-term budgets that will minimize or, preferably, eliminate the city’s need to issue more debt and that make it possible at some point to reduce the property tax rate
(4) Build road, water, and sewer infrastructure that facilitates commercial growth and maintain the existing infrastructure
(5) Preserve Sachse’s small town atmosphere
David Hock is a Realtor, has been a member of the Sachse Planning and Zoning Commission and currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Here is a short bio from Mr. Hock’s ActiveRain Website:
I have lived and worked in the Dallas area 50+ years saying any more time than that I will not admit to. It’s been a privlege to grow up. raise a family and see how the Dallas Metro Plex has progressed. In my business life I have work in real estate on the construction side from dog house to high rise for 30 years. I work both the residential and commercial side of real estate. My back ground brings experience to the table when the client needs it.
My first two years were with Keller Williams with the more traditional side of sales and in 2011 was Rookie of the Year for the office. I have joined the FATHOM group to expand my technology side and grow with up coming changes in our markets. I am the type of person that can work with and in combination with other agents/brokers for the needs of a client. I also have a sfr (short sake foreclosure resource) designation for those looking in that market.
